Who we are :
- SAHARA is founded by a group of local people.
- The organization provides various low-cost sustainable technological solutions for the development and implementation in the area of agriculture, education, health, income generation, global warming and promotion of renewable energy to improve the socio-economic standards of down-trodden people.
History :
- Sahara was started in the year 1991.
- In 1984 Upper Kolab Dam Project affected 50,771 people in 206 villages of Koraput.
- The displaced people lived like animals in a forest, isolated from the world.
- Many villages remained lack basic facilities school, road, electricity, potable drinking water.
- Mr. Jyotirmaya Khara, was displaced thrice within 20 years, by development project.
Mission:
To concentrate in the coming years mainly on education, health, poverty eradication, to control global warming and disability.
What we do:
- It empowers rural poor for access to development and facilitate voluntary efforts in rural areas, strengthening participatory development at the grassroots involving all stakeholders.
- It strives to become rural resource center of committed and component professionals, facilitate processes such as action research, capacity building, networking and promotion of livelihood support options.
- It strives to make influence public political and opinion and to co-operate all our activities towards the employment of rural people of Orissa.
- It strives to eliminate burning of fossil fuel and promote solar energy.
- It empowers and makes efforts to rehabilitate people with disability.
